The National Sorghum Producers welcomed USDA's announcement of Market Facilitation Program payments for farmers hurt by tariffs. The group said the program will provide relief for U.S. sorghum growers who have faced uncertainty since February 2018.
Secretary Perdue met with the group before the announcement on July 24.
Direct payments support farm income and may keep sorghum planted acreage steady, but they do not replace lost export demand. Market prices are unlikely to move much on the payments alone.
