Highly pathogenic avian influenza hit Russian producers Cherkizovo and Damate in several regions. Cherkizovo culled about 290,000 chickens at an isolated hatching-egg farm, and Damate culled about 470,000 turkeys, roughly 10% of its turkey population.
The losses are modest relative to Russia's broiler and turkey output, so the effect on global poultry supply and feed demand is limited for now.
