Fertecon's weekly wholesale report says ammonia prices rose in June, with ex-Yuzhnyy FOB at $244-248/mt, up from $235-240 at end-May, due to high gas costs and production outages in Ukraine. European plant turnarounds and new US and Indonesian capacity were also noted.
The report also notes weak crop prices are restraining domestic fertilizer prices.
Rising ammonia and gas-linked costs raise nitrogen fertilizer expenses for grain farmers, while weak crop prices limit how much of that cost can be passed on. Higher input costs tend to weigh on farm margins and future feed-grain planting.
