An Environmental Working Group report found glyphosate residues in most conventional oat products tested, including Cheerios, Quaker Oats and Nature Valley. Quaker says it does not add glyphosate during milling and that the herbicide is applied pre-harvest across the industry.
Consumer food-safety concerns could reduce demand for conventionally grown oats and boost interest in organic oats. The impact on feed oat prices is limited.
