The UAE temporarily banned imports of live birds and poultry products from East Malaysia after a highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu outbreak. The ban covers Sabah and Sarawak, and thermally treated products are exempt.
The outbreak was reported in Sabah on June 6.
The ban cuts a small export channel for Malaysian poultry and may shift regional trade flows. Its effect on global feed or poultry prices is limited.
