Class III milk futures closed higher on Friday, with deferred contracts up 9 to 17 cents for January through August. Barrels fell three cents to $1.36 and butter closed down seven cents at $2.2350.
USDA said butter and dry whey cash prices rose for the week while most other cash categories fell.
Higher deferred milk futures suggest firmer forward milk prices, though weaker spot cheese and butter limit the near-term lift for dairy-feed demand.
