EFSA's overview covers May to August 2018, reporting three HPAI H5N8 outbreaks in European poultry and three H5N6 outbreaks in wild birds, plus three low-pathogenic cases. Several HPAI poultry outbreaks were reported in Russia, and the report says the zoonotic risk to the European public is very low.
Summer detections in Europe are seasonally low, but outbreaks in Russia near fall migration routes raise the risk of spread into the EU during the coming poultry season, which could pressure poultry and feed demand modestly.
