Nippon Shokubai completed two plants at its Antwerp site, each with 100,000 tons of annual capacity and a cost of $400 million. Sumitomo Chemical also finished a 100,000-ton methionine plant in Ehime, Japan, bringing its total poultry feed additive capacity to 250,000 tons.
The report covers the completion of these facilities.
The Sumitomo plant adds methionine supply, which may pressure feed amino acid prices as new output enters the market. The Nippon Shokubai plants relate to acrylic acid and superabsorbent polymers, so they have little direct effect on feed prices.
