Recent rain in NSW and southern Queensland has raised hopes of ending drought-feeding, but feedgrain buying has been light. ASW wheat was trading at about $470-480/t for prompt delivery on the southwest slopes, with barley $10/t higher and lupins at $600/t ex farm.
Brokers said prices were steady to softer and hay was the main focus.
Light buying and rain-eased drought pressure are holding local feedgrain values flat ahead of new crop. Grain is still scarce in some areas, so prices are unlikely to fall sharply until bulk-handling resumes.
