USDA forecasts 2019 milk prices to average above 2018 levels. Wisconsin economist Bob Cropp expects the September Class III price near $16, up from $14.95 in August, helped by firm cheese and whey prices and domestic dairy sales.
Expected higher Class III prices support dairy margins and cow numbers, which in turn affects demand for protein feeds such as soybean meal and distillers grains.
