CJ Cheiljedang said it has begun expanding its lysine plant in Piracicaba, Sao Paulo, with the additional facilities set for completion next year. The company expects its Brazilian amino acid sales to rise 9% this year to 130 billion won, and says Brazil accounts for 60% of South America's roughly 200,000-ton lysine market.
Added in-region lysine capacity in Brazil can ease supply for feed makers who buy amino acids, modestly adding to supply for the feed additive market. The effect on feed prices is small and gradual, since the capacity arrives next year.
