The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index fell for a sixth straight day to 1,395 points on November 6, 2018, its lowest since September 19. The capesize index slid 4.2% to 2,296 points on waning demand, while panamax rose slightly in earnings.
Falling capesize rates reflect softer dry-bulk demand, which lowers shipping costs for bulk feed ingredients but signals weaker trade volumes. The effect on feed grain prices is modest.
