University of Konstanz researchers reported a previously unknown pathway for lysine degradation in many bacteria, including E. coli. The findings were published in Nature Communications.
The work changes understanding of how lysine can be broken down, since lysine was thought to be purely ketogenic.
This is basic biochemistry with no effect on feed supply, demand or prices. It has no direct bearing on lysine markets.
