Vietnamese commercial banks lowered the USD/VND rate over the final days of 2018, pushing it below 23,300 dong per dollar, the lowest since September 21. The State Bank of Vietnam nudged its reference rate up to 22,825 but kept the year's dong move modest, about 1.5 percent.
A stable dong keeps Vietnamese feed and protein import costs predictable for buyers, with no meaningful effect on global grain or meal prices.
