Darling Ingredients will open a second Nature Safe organic fertilizer plant in Turlock, California, on January 2, 2019, with annual capacity of 35,000 tons and 4,500 tons of storage. The company plans to double the plant's capacity by the end of 2019 and will continue fertilizer production at its Henderson, Kentucky plant.
The plant is a fertilizer expansion rather than a feed ingredient change, so it has little direct effect on feed commodity supply or prices. It mainly signals growing demand for organic inputs in the western US.
