Ukraine produced 5.2 million tons of sunflower meal and cake in MY2017/18, of which 4.2 million tons were exported. APK-Inform says China entered the top five consumers of Ukrainian meal with over 150 thousand tons imported, though that is only 4% of exports.
Strong export demand supported Ukrainian meal prices earlier in 2018, but China's rising share of Ukrainian supply is a modest factor for global meal balances and prices.
