The Canadian Canola Growers Association is lobbying China on three issues: approval of new canola traits, dockage levels, and the 9 percent tariff on Canadian canola. The association's director said zeroing that tariff would add nine percent to farmers' earnings.
The 2016 dockage agreement expires in 2020.
A tariff removal would lower Canadian canola costs into China and support export demand, but no decision has been made, so the price effect is speculative.
