CGS-CIMB research says Indonesia revised palm oil and derivative export levies following a price drop, with no levy below $570 per tonne. The note states the final thresholds were raised compared with the late-November proposal, which had set zero levy below $500.
It expects the move to benefit upstream planters and hurt processors.
Lower export levies at current prices increase palm export competitiveness and supply, which is bearish for palm oil. Processors' disadvantage may reduce refined product output, a secondary factor for vegetable oil supply.
After 400 past bearish policy events, Palm Oil moved a median -0.0% over 5 sessions (49% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.1%), and +0.2% over 20.
