Pakistan's DAP offtake in December 2018 was 189 thousand tonnes, up 25.6% from December 2017, according to official National Fertilizer Development Authority data. Punjab accounted for the largest share of sales, at 136 thousand tonnes.
Domestic production was only 64 thousand tonnes, and imports fell 59% month on month, leaving about 682 thousand tonnes available.
Strong year-on-year DAP demand in Pakistan, combined with lower imports, tightens regional phosphate supply and supports DAP prices. The effect on global prices is limited because this is a single-country market.
After 66 past bullish report events, DAP moved a median 0.0% over 5 sessions (41% higher; middle half -0.6% to +0.7%), and +0.3% over 20.
