Average US retail fertilizer prices rose again in the first week of February 2019, marking the fourth straight weekly increase for all eight major fertilizers. UAN32 was up 5% month over month at $318 per ton, while DAP, MAP, potash, urea and anhydrous were slightly higher.
Nutrien also agreed to buy Actagro for $340 million.
Persistent retail increases in urea, DAP and potash raise input costs for feed grain and oilseed production, which can support crop prices. The gains are routine rather than driven by a new supply shock.
