Mongolia inaugurated the 'Protein' meat and bone meal and animal fat rendering plant in Emeelt village on February 15, with capacity to render 24 tons of meat and bone meal and 17 tons of animal fat daily. The plant was built with a Development Bank of Mongolia loan and Italian equipment.
The plant can supply about 80 percent of domestic meat and bone meal demand, cutting Mongolia's annual import bill of MNT 18 billion and reducing reliance on imported protein meal for feed. Future exports could add modest supply to regional protein markets.
