Jordan cancelled a 120,000-tonne feed barley tender after bids came in above $215/MT C&F, which did not suit the buyer. Earlier tenders in January bought 60,000-tonne lots at $218-223/MT, and the cancelled tender set a benchmark of about $220-225/t for new-crop barley.
Rejected bids above the benchmark signal that sellers are holding firm on new-crop barley, which supports prices, although Saudi buying could push them higher still.
