TechnipFMC completed the Polar project, a 93-million-euro expansion at Adisseo's liquid methionine plant in Villalonquéjar, Burgos, Spain. The work raised the site's production capacity by 35% and is the only European plant making liquid methionine, an amino acid used in animal nutrition.
The expansion also added about 20% to the plant's workforce.
The added liquid methionine capacity increases supply of an animal-feed amino acid whose market is expected to grow about 6% a year, which could weigh on methionine prices if demand does not keep pace. The effect is modest because this is a single plant expansion, not a shift in global supply.
