USDA data show the 2018 US sunflower yield averaged a record 1,731 pounds per acre, up 128 pounds from 2017. Total production was 2.12 billion pounds, down 1% from 2017, as planted area fell 7%.
A record yield offset lower acreage, so US sunflower supply was little changed, leaving limited price pressure on sunflower meal and oil.
