Researchers at the Technical University of Denmark are running a 1.5-year project to produce protein for food supplements from single-cell protein grown on methane from biogas made from Copenhagen household organic waste. The project is at the research stage.
This is early-stage research with no near-term effect on feed supply or prices. It is a minor future alternative protein source and is unlikely to move soybean meal or fishmeal markets.
