Argentina's central bank said it will intervene in the foreign-exchange market to stabilize the peso, overturning its previous non-intervention policy. The change followed several days of volatility that sent the peso sharply lower.
The bank also loosened the no-intervention trading band that had been in place since October.
Central bank intervention limits the peso's slide, which keeps Argentine export farmers selling at more stable local-currency prices. This marginally affects soymeal and corn export competitiveness.
