Peru has announced a 2.1 million metric ton quota for the first anchovy fishing season in the north-central zone. The season is set to begin in early May.
Anchovy is the main raw material for fishmeal, so a quota that is well below last year's 3.3 million tons tightens fishmeal supply and supports fishmeal and soymeal substitution prices.
