Lethbridge cash feed barley traded at C$285/mt on May 30, up C$10/mt for a second straight week. Canadian barley stocks are estimated at 900,000 t for July 31, which could be close to a record low.
The May supply and demand tables raised exports by 250,000 t, with domestic demand adjusted to hold the carryout unchanged.
Tight old-crop stocks and a higher export forecast support nearby barley prices and could keep the seasonal rally going. A record-low carryout would leave little cushion if the coming summer weather disrupts the crop.
