DTN's hypothetical 50-million-gallon South Dakota ethanol plant showed a 28.3-cent-per-gallon loss in its latest update, improved from 31.9 cents in February. Corn fell to $3.53 from $3.78 and the DDGS price dropped to $130 per ton from $141, while the ethanol rack price rose to $1.41 per gallon.
Lower corn costs and firmer ethanol prices narrow processing losses, which can support ethanol plant demand for corn. The lower DDGS price, however, weighs on co-product values for feed buyers.
