The UK Defra average farm-gate milk price fell from 49.48ppl in January 2023 to 36.02ppl by June, and was about 15ppl lower by late 2023. Milk volumes fell in the second half of the year, with September and October GB volumes down 1.3% and 2.7% year on year.
Reduced UK milk supply and signs of a price floor point to a possible firming in dairy prices in early 2024, though weak consumer demand still limits gains.
