Statistics Canada reported that rapeseed area fell 8.2% to 8.5 million hectares and soybean area fell 9.6% to 2.3 million hectares. Barley area rose 14% to nearly 3 million hectares, while maize area rose 1.9%.
A smaller canola crop and reduced Canadian meal supply support canola meal prices, while more barley supply is bearish for barley and a substitute in feed rations.
