Evonik officially commissioned its second DL-Methionine complex in Singapore on June 18, 2019, after a two-year build. Each plant has 150,000 metric tons of annual capacity, lifting Evonik's global total to about 730,000 metric tons.
The company invested more than half a billion euros in the project.
The added methionine capacity increases global supply of a key feed amino acid, which is bearish for methionine prices. Integrated precursor production may also lower costs for Asian poultry and swine feed formulators.
