Belarus is commissioning new potash plants, the Nizhyn and Petrikov mining and processing facilities, which will expand its capacity. Belaruskali has raised output by more than 3 million tonnes over four years to 12.9 million tonnes, and Belarus produced 12 million tonnes of potassium chloride in 2018, behind Canada's 23.5 million tonnes.
Added Belarusian capacity increases global potash supply, which tends to weigh on potash prices. Fertilizer costs feed into grain and oilseed production economics over time.
