Cotton harvesting in Mato Grosso, Brazil's main producing state, was 7.15% complete by the third week of July, ahead of the 4.74% pace at the same point last year. IMEA expects Mato Grosso's fiber output to rise 35.4% to 1.85 million tonnes in the current season, helped by a larger planted area.
Early August cold fronts are not expected to disrupt harvest because the bolls are already open.
A larger Brazilian cotton crop increases cottonseed and cottonseed meal availability for feed later in the season. The effect on feed prices is modest and gradual, so the story is routine crop progress.
