ICE Futures posted the Canola Board Margin Index closing values for August 26, 2019, showing crush margins for several contract months in Canadian and US dollars. Margins for the October/November 2019 contract were C$79.06 per tonne, up from the prior day.
The index is a formula used by the Canadian Oilseed Processors Association to track processing returns.
Crush margins signal how profitable oilseed processors are, which drives canola crush volumes and meal output. Small day-to-day changes in the index reflect routine market movement rather than a new supply or demand shift.
