Indian fishmeal producers and oil manufacturers have been on strike since August 1 to protest GST on fishmeal and related products. The GST was first set as taxable, then exempted, and then reinstated with retrospective effect.
Fifty-six units in Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are affected.
The strike removes a meaningful share of Indian fishmeal output, tightening supply for shrimp and fish feed producers.
