Ocean carriers including ICS, ASA and ECSA asked the Panama Canal Authority to delay its new toll structure from January 1, 2020 until June 2020. They argue the change would coincide with new IMO sulfur regulations and create a double burden.
The ICS said it had not received notice of any delay.
A delay would reduce near-term cost uncertainty for dry bulk and grain shipping through the canal. The ongoing toll dispute is a minor freight factor for feed commodity prices.
