Uralkali plans to reduce its potash output in the second half of 2019 by approximately 350,000 to 500,000 tonnes. The company cited current market conditions and scheduled maintenance requiring temporary shutdowns of production facilities.
Uralkali said it remains confident in the long-term fundamentals of the industry.
Removing this volume from the market in the second half of the year tightens potash supply, which is supportive for prices even as demand is weak. The cut is partly maintenance-driven, so its net effect may be smaller than the headline figure suggests.
