The Korean won closed at 1,196.90 per dollar on September 6, its third straight session of gains, and broke the 1,200 level for the first time since August 1. Gains were driven by a possible UK-EU Brexit deal, Hong Kong withdrawing its extradition bill, and renewed US-China trade talks.
A stronger won lowers the local cost of dollar-priced feed imports, while easing trade tensions support sentiment for grain and meal demand.
