The Dalian Commodity Exchange reported that its polished round-grained rice futures, listed August 16, traded 291,200 contracts over 20 sessions to September 12, with turnover of RMB 10.68 billion. The dominant RR2001 contract ranged between RMB 3,597 and 3,735 per tonne.
The futures contract gives Chinese rice buyers and sellers a price-discovery tool that tracks spot fundamentals, with stable liquidity. The price range was narrow, implying no immediate supply shock.
