Indonesia's government asked poultry breeders to discard or give away 10 million 19-day-old hatchery eggs to shrink chicken supplies. Retail chicken meat prices have fallen 25% this year to the lowest since at least July 2016.
Reducing hatchery output should tighten broiler supply later and support chicken prices, which can cut feed demand from broiler growers over time if producers respond by cutting flocks.
