Peru's extractive fishing landings rose 138.4 percent by volume in July 2019 versus July 2018, reaching 319,300 metric tonnes. The gain was driven mainly by anchovy catches for fishmeal and oil, reflecting a higher quota for the first central-northern season.
Strong Peruvian anchovy landings increase fishmeal supply, which is bearish for fishmeal and can ease protein costs for feed buyers. The increase is partly a base effect from a weak year-earlier month.
