A University of Guelph review argues that published lysine requirements for rainbow trout vary widely and that current NRC estimates are too low. The authors suggest about 2.3% of diet for maximum weight gain and about 2.7% for maximum protein gain.
This is an academic finding that could change how aquafeed lysine is specified over time. It is unlikely to move prices in the near term but may raise lysine demand in fish feed formulations.
