Feeder cattle volumes rose seasonally in early October, with yearlings $1 to $3 higher and calves steady to weak. Cull cow receipts were about 8,000 head, up roughly 2,000, and cow prices were steady to $2 lower on declining cow meat prices.
Seasonal fall runs typically add supply pressure on calves and cows. Yearling strength partly offsets this, leaving feeder prices broadly neutral.
