Nearby soybean futures were marginally higher on Monday while December soybean oil fell about 18 basis points after fund selling and long meal/short oil spreading. The EPA biofuel proposal in the Federal Register added early uncertainty, and palm oil in Dalian hit fresh contract highs.
Fund spreading and EPA uncertainty pressured soyoil, but The Jacobsen expects the proposed biofuel rules to lift soyoil demand in 2020, so the net price impact is modest and mixed.
