Evonik has resumed methionine production at its two Antwerp, Belgium facilities after a force majeure declared on November 12. The shutdown followed a supply problem with hydrocyanic acid (HCN).
Evonik said it would serve customers from stock and did not expect an earnings impact.
A restart of a major methionine source eases the supply squeeze that had lifted feed-amino prices, so the price support from the outage should fade. Buyers should expect methionine availability to normalize.
