The rupiah opened at 14,070 per dollar and traded in a narrow range on Monday as hopes for easing US-China trade tensions improved sentiment. Indonesia recorded a small October trade surplus of $161.3 million, with exports of $14.9 billion and imports of $14.8 billion.
A firmer rupiah on trade optimism marginally reduces the local cost of dollar-priced feed imports, while the small trade surplus offers limited support.
