The joint venture between Cargill, Auscott and Namoi has been dissolved after changing profitability. Cargill now solely owns the Footscray canola crushing plant in Victoria, while the Narrabri crush closed earlier in 2019.
Closure of the Narrabri crush reduces Australian oilseed crushing capacity, which lowers domestic demand for canola seed and meal production in eastern Australia.
