A Global Reporting Program investigation with NBC News examined the fishmeal supply chain from Latin America to West Africa and China. It reports that about a quarter of fish caught at sea goes to fishmeal factories and highlights ocean pollution and coastal community opposition.
The investigation raises sustainability and regulatory scrutiny of fishmeal, a possible longer-term constraint on supply, but it does not itself move near-term prices.
