Canadian canola seed, oil and meal exports for crop year 2018-19 were worth $10.0 billion, down from $11.1 billion in 2017-18. The seed export decline drove the drop, while oil and meal volumes were roughly flat.
Meal exports rose 2.3 per cent to 4.64 million tonnes.
Lower seed exports, mainly from China's suspension of Canadian canola imports, reduce global supply of canola products available to feed buyers. Meal volumes holding up limits the downside for meal prices.
